RR Institute of Technology (R.R.I.T) is currently headed by Dr. M. K. Muralidhara who is a well known Academician in the field of Mechanical Engineering and an able administrator.

He completed his B.E at Bangalore University (1975), obtained his M.E (1977) and PhD (1984) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bangalore. Dr. Muralidhara then worked on the faculty of M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology as assistant professor, professor, and then the HOD for over 35 years. During his tenure, he guided over 60 B.E. projects, 40 M.Tech projects, and 8 PhD candidates.

Dr. Muralidhara has published extensively (over 25 research papers) in leading Indian, European, and American journals. He has also published over 50 research papers in National and International conferences. During the 100th convention of American Foundrymen's society in Philadelphia, USA (1996), he had the honour of presenting his research findings in non-ferrous castings. 

Dr. Muralidhara has authored several books including "Engineering Drawing", published by Tata McGrawhill co., Indian adaptation of the book "Materials Science and Engineering" by Jackel Shackelford published by Pearson Publications. He has also authored books titled “Engineering Thermodynamics”, “Applied Thermodynamics”, “Heat and Mass Transfer”, “Manufacturing Process 1&3”, and “Foundry Technology”. 

Dr. Muralidhara served as the chairman of the Board of Examiners (B.O.E) in Mechanical Engineering, VTU during one term and as a member for 4 terms. He was a member of Board of Studies (B.O.S) in VTU and Bangalore University. He has also served as a member of Local Inquiry Committee (L.I.C) for VTU. He is a member of professional societies such as Indian Society of Technical Education ( I.S.T.E) and Institute of Indian Foundrymen (I.I.F). During the 2005-06 term, he served as the chairman of the Bangalore Chapter of I.I.F.
